background

Jackson Academy continues to be on the cutting edge in providing valuable library research resources. Accessibility of resources, both print and non-print, and service to students and teachers have always been the goal in the JA library. Teachers bring their classes to the library for research in whatever form that takes.

An extensive and current collection includes the following: 20,898 books; 1,253 video tapes; subscriptions to ten local, regional, and national newspapers; subscriptions to 71 periodicals; vertical files containing information on hundreds of research topics. Full text multifaceted databases are available, as well as an online catalog for books, all of which may be accessed on or off campus.

Our two goals in the library are to prepare our students for accessing technology resources at the university level and to read as a lifelong learning skill. Donations of primary source materials provide firsthand background resources for classes in history and music.  A collection of indexed magazines dating 1918 through the present is housed in the library.

The library’s varied resources are used daily by Jackson Academy students and teachers.  It is the mission of the Jackson Academy library to give each teacher and class personalized, knowledgeable, and timely service.
